Series 1 - 3.8 litre (1961-1964)

- 2-seat coupe & roadster only.
(coupe also known as fixed head coupe or FHC;
roadster also known as open two-seater or OTS).
- 96" wheelbase.
* Only a "Jaguar" script appears on boot lid.
- Glass headlight covers, with chrome ring around them.
- Small taillights and front turn signal lights are mounted above
the bumpers, both front & rear.
- Rear license plate mounts in cutout between rear bumper blades.
- Chrome center instrument cluster & console.
- Seat backs are arched in shape.
- Wire wheels have "dished" center hub section.
- Two wings on wire wheel knock-off nuts.


Coupe

Series 1 - 4.2 litre (late 1964 - 1967)


- 2 seat coupe & roadster.
* "Jaguar", "EType", and "4.2" scripts on boot lid.
Exterior is otherwise the same as 3.8 litre.
- Black center instrument cluster, leather console.
- Seat backs are rectangular in shape.
- Armrests on doors and center console.

E-type Series 1 coupe and roadster


Series 1 - 2+2 (1966-1967)


- 102" (?) wheelbase.
- Longer doors than 2-seat coupe.
* Small rear seats.
* Narrow chrome strip at top of doors.

"Series 1.5" - (late 1967 - 1968)

- 2-seat coupe, roadster, 2+2 coupe.
* Exterior is the same as Series 1, except headlight covers have
been removed. Headlight bucket area is surrounded by a thin
chrome trim ring.
* Retains small taillights & front turn signal lights above the
bumpers.
- Numerous Series 2 details were phased in during this period.
"Series 1.5" is not an official designation. These are really
still Series 1 cars, even though they are often lumped in with
Series 2 cars at shows.

Series 2 4.2 litre




- Open two-seater October 1968 - September 1970
- Fixed head coupe October 1968 - September 1970
- Two plus two October 1968 - September 1970



Series 2 - (1969-1971)

- 2-seat coupe, roadster, 2+2 coupe.
* Rear bumper wraps completely around the rear of the car.
* Rear license plate mounts on chrome trim below the bumper.
* Taillights and front turn signal lights are larger than on Series 1
cars, and are mounted below the bumpers
. - Larger "mouth" opening in bonnet compared to Series 1 cars.
- Headlights are mounted higher and more forward than in Series 1.5 cars.
- Wire wheels have "flat" center hub section.
- No wings on wire wheel knock-off nuts.
- Bolt-on chrome wheels (not wires) were available as an option.



Series 3 5.3 litre V12



- Roadster March 1971 - February 1975
- Two plus two March 1971 - September 1973


Series 3 - (1971-1974)

- 2-seat roadster and 2+2 coupe only. Both were built on 102" wheelbase.
* V12 engine; "V12" script on boot lid replaces "4.2" script.
* Chrome grille in "mouth" opening in bonnet. Air duct below grille.
* Flared wheel wells.
- Later cars have rubber bumper overriders.
